Eating More Beans and Soy Could Slash High Blood Pressure Risk by Nearly 30%

Eating more beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, and other soy foods could be a surprisingly powerful way to fight high blood pressure, according to a major meta-analysis of studies from around the world.
The analysis pooled data from dozens of randomized and observational studies covering hundreds of thousands of participants. Legume consumption was associated with lower systolic and diastolic pressure independent of overall diet quality.
Researchers suggest plant proteins and fiber may improve vascular function and reduce sodium-heavy meat consumption. Dietitians recommend gradual increases to minimize digestive discomfort.
